‘These Are Armed Robbers, Not Anti-Robbers. Damn!’ — Man Narrates Shocking Experience With SARS
Akeula Omogbolahan, Lagos Fashion Designer on Friday narrated his ordeal with the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police, who allegedly attempted to shoot him over a failed extortion.
Omogbolahun identified as @Akeula Trendy on Twitter took to his handle today to bemoan his ill-treatment by operatives of SARS in Iyana Iba, Lagos who allegedly attempted to shoot him.
“Nigerians please save me from men of SARS… They want to kill me, Iyana iba,” Akeula cried out.
He noted that despite identifying himself by presenting a letter-headed paper of his PR company, the operatives turned deaf ears, hitting him with a gun, and further attempting to shoot his leg.
“…they hit me with gun, was going to shoot my leg, on top say I carry letter-headed papers of my PR company with me, but why?”
The Twitter socialite alleged that the operatives were smoking as they were found negotiating prices with the young guys they arrested.
“These guys are armed robbers and not anti-robbers, damn! I swear down, they were even smoking as they were negotiating prices with the young guys they arrested,” Akeula alleged.
Although he disclosed that he was later freed about two hours after the incident, the operatives had taken him to meet with their Divisional Police Officer (DPO) (name not mentioned).
“I was later freed after about two hours, they drove me to their station to meet with their DPO, for him to speak with the person I called earlier, they said how can I know that person? That they need to confirm lo….
“I really appreciate everyone. Thank you so much I’m fine now. But what if I didn’t have anybody to call? And obviously,y I don’t have one naira to give them…,” he said.
Nigerians have continued to laments the spate of brutality inflicted on individuals across the country by SARS, an arm of the Nigerian Police Force.
