Kamala Harris Victory In US Means Nigerians Need To Give Women A Chance — Keyamo

Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo says the time has come for women in Nigeria to be trusted to hold high public offices.

Mr Keyamo stated this on Saturday evening in reaction to the election of Senator Kamala Harris as the first woman to become vice-president elect of the United States.

In a message via his verified handle on micro-blogging platform, Twitter, Keyamo wrote:

“Congrats to Joseph Robinette Biden Jr, on being elected the 46th President of the USA and also to Kamala Harris, first woman of colour elected as VP,

The time has also come to give our women the chance to occupy such a high office in our country and even the number one position.”

Oriental Times reports that Harris, Joe Biden’s running mate, is also the first black person, and the first person of Southeast Asian descent to become vice president-elect in the nation’s 244-year history.

Biden won the presidential election ending Donald Trump’s troubled presidency after securing the 20 electoral college votes of Pennsylvania.
