“Herdsmen” Set Secondary School On Fire In Kogi
Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have set ablaze Government Secondary School Iluke in Kabba Bunu local government area of Kogi state.
According to reports, the assailants invaded the school on Wednesday afternoon and set it on fire.
Fortunately, the incident was said to have occurred some minutes past 3 pm, when students had closed for the day.
Youths in the community were said to have rushed to the scene in a bid to put out the raging fire.
Their efforts were said to be unsuccessful as a portion of the school building housing some classrooms was already burnt beyond salvaging.
However, the residents were said to have arrested one of the herdsmen and handed him over to the police at the Kabba/Bunu Divisional Police Officer.
Contacted to confirm the report, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Edeh said he was yet to be briefed by the DPO of Kabba/Bunu Division.
