#Occupylekkitollgate: Nigerians Defy Govt Order, Stage Protest At Lekki Toll Gate
Nigerians have defied the Federal and state government order, warning against another staged protest at the Lekki toll gate.
Nigerians who say they are exercising their constitutional rights have taken to the microblogging site Twitter this Saturday to express they either on their way to the Lekki plaza or there already.
Recall that the government had warned against another staged protest at the Lekki toll gate, saying COVID-19 protocols are still in place, hence disallowing the gathering of more than 50 persons.
The government made the threat to deploy all security agencies to the Lekki plaza after Nigerians threatened to stage another protest, following the Lagos state panel of inquiry set to investigate the alleged killings of peaceful protesters at Lekki plaza, ordering the reopening of the toll gate.
Reacting to the Lekki toll gate’s reopening, Nigerians, especially the youths, say there would be another protest as their comrades who allegedly died on October 20, 2020, have not been served due justice.
Since yesterday, Friday, the government had deployed security agencies to the plaza, saying no protest would hold at the plaza again.
But Nigerians would not succumb to the government’s threat, as they take to the social media site, Twitter to announce their arrival for the protest while some say they are their way and would join their comrades.
Nigerians have argued that it’s their constitutional right to protest for their right, and no government can tell them otherwise.
