BREAKING: Senate Confirms Bawa As New EFCC Chairman

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa as new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC).

Bawa’s confirmation followed screening by senators as the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.

Oriental Times reports that President Muhammadu Buhari last week, nominated Bawa and asked the Senate to confirm in as the substantive Chairman of the Commission.

The 40-year-old Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist is now the first core EFCC official and non-police officer to head the agency.

Bawa also became the youngest person ever to serve as chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
