Imo Is Indeed Peaceful — Udeh

The National President of Imo State Congress of America, Egnr Sampson Udeh, has expressed surprise that contrary to social media reports, Imo is relatively peaceful. He said this when he led the executives of the Congress on a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Imo State Council of Elders, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, in Owerri over the weekend.

Engr Udeh noted that it was a thing of joy that the security architecture in Imo ensured a hitch free Christmas and new year celebrations. He stated that many Imo indigenes in the Diaspora returned to meet their kith and kins safely, positing that the security situation is relatively calm contrary to reports in the social media.

He stated that Eze Ilomuanya as a foremost royal father in the State coupled with his position as Chairman of the Elders Council in the State, is well placed to assist the Congress achieve its aim of unifying Imo people in the Diaspora to speak with one voice. He explained that the Congress is the umbrella body housing the various associations of Imo indigenes in the United States of America.

Engr Udeh opined that with the relative peace in the State, investors abound to leverage on that to establish thriving businesses in the State. He pleaded with the political class to give peace a chance, noting that without peace, not much can be achieved.

Also speaking, Professor Bishop Athan Azubuike, President of Mezie Imo Clergy Forum, described Eze Ilomuanya as a first class monarch, who is highly detribalized and a bridge builder. He appealed to the monarch not to be daunted in the task of preaching peace, tolerance and unity among Imo people.

Responding, Eze Ilomuanya urged Imo people to support Governor Hope Uzodinma’s peace advocacy in the interest of the State. He explained that peace is a prelude to socioeconomic and political development in the State.

Eze Ilomuanya urged Imo indigenes across the various political divides, to put party differences aside and work for the betterment of Imo.

Congress of America of his support, and urged him to assist in disseminating the information that Imo is very peaceful for industrial development, stating that the government is willing to provide enabling and conducive environment for businesses to thrive in the State.
