IPOB, ESN On Campaign To Destroy Me — Abba Kyari
According to a police report, Abba Kyari, the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, informed a panel that secessionist organisations such as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) are working to destroy his name.
Kyari, who was suspended by the police last year for his alleged ties to Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi, an alleged international fraudster, revealed this before a police panel investigating him.
The PUNCH received a copy of the report, which stated in part, “The officer did not deny violating social media (policy) of the police. The officer (Kyari) stated that ‘It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who moved to destroy him due to his onslaught against them in the South-East’.
Members of a syndicate led by Hushpuppi paid two hundred and thirty-five million, one hundred and twenty thousand naira (N235,120,000) to Kyari’s younger brother, according to the report, which was handed to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
According to the investigation, Kyari also transferred N44 million to his brother’s bank account in multiple transactions.
However, the investigative report received by a Punch correspondent on Monday did not reveal if Kyari’s brother was working as a proxy for his embattled elder brother, who is currently in NDLEA custody.
The DCP, who was suspended by the police in July for alleged ties to Hushpuppi, is accused of attempting to sell part of the cocaine confiscated from drug dealers in Enugu while on suspension.
