Tithe K!ll You There – Catholic Priest Slams Pastor Who Asked Davido To Pay Tithe From N250m Donation [Video]

A Catholic priest, Reverend Father John Chinenye Oluoma has lambasted a cleric who said Nigerian singer David Adeleke better known as Davido should pay his tithe from the N250million he donated to orphanages across the country.

Recall that fans and friends of the superstar singer had raised N200million for him on his birthday last year after he posted a short video where he jokingly asked anyone he has ever given a hit song to send him money so he could clear his new Rolls Royce. Davido’s request saw his WEMA bank account which he released on his Instastory buzzing with lots of credits as many of his colleagues and friends started to immediately respond.

In less than 72hours, the singer received about N200million. In his magnanimity and to the admiration of everybody, Davido announced that he will add his own personal N50million to the N200million and distribute it to orphanages across Nigeria. The “if” crooner has since kept to his promise as he recently announced that he has completed the disbursement of the birthday fundraiser to 292 orphanages.

During a recent homily in his Abuja parish, Fr. Oluoma noted that it is unacceptable for a man of God to ask for tithe from someone who has gone to great lengths to help others.

“When Davido received 200,000,000 Million Naira from his fans, added his 50,000,000 Million Naira and gave the money to charity. And one hopeless, useless so-called man of God said that he should pay tithe. You see that man of God, if not that I’m a Catholic Christian I would have said ‘tithe kill you there.’,” the priest said.

“You didn’t raise money for the poor and you are busy collecting from them. Then the person who raised money to give to the poor you said he should pay tithe,” he added.
