Fuel Price Hike: Owerri Residents Moan Over Continuous Increase On Transportation Fare

By Sampson Uhuegbu, Owerri

The increase of price of fuel has continued to generate hot reactions and condemnation by Owerri residents who were said to have felt that Federal government ought to have considered plights of her citizens with a view to addressing it.

Fuel stations in Owerri, the State capital, as at the time of filing this report, were selling Three Hundred and Fifty (350) per litre; while the development has forced commercial drivers to increase their transportation fare they charged on passengers.

Imo bus drivers now charge One Hundred (100) and One Hundred and Fifty (150) depending on distance.

An Owerri- based Motor Mechanic who preferred not to be mentioned on print, urged Federal government to look into sufferings by Nigerians.

A young graduate from the Material and Metallurgical Engineering Department, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Engr. Prosper Nwachukwu, who was spotted in his Barber shop, bemoaned the Continuous hike of fuel price.

“Since I left the university, I have not gotten a job. I opened this shop to help myself but unfortunately, since this increment on fuel price, I’m not finding it easy,” he said.
