About 24 hours after armed bandits killed at least 65 local vigilantes in Sakaba villages and kidnapped an unknown number of civilians, including the monarch of Ikara village, 15 soldiers have reportedly been killed in a new raid on the Kebbi community.

Armed bandits killed at least 15 soldiers and burned their vehicles in a new attack in the early hours of Wednesday in Kanya village in the Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi state.

“Scores of villagers were also taken hostage by the bandits in villages close to Kanya where the attack happened,” a resident, Abdullahi Sulaiman, told Vanguard.

According to Sulaima, the monarch’s kidnappers have made contact with his family and are demanding N15 million in ransom.

SP Nafiu Abubakar, the Kebbi state police image maker, did not pick up his calls or respond to a confirmation text message sent to him.
