Imo Builders Commemorate 3rd Anniversary Builders’ Day In Owerri

Decry Rising Building Collapse in Nigeria

Imo State branch of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), weekend, joined her counterparts across the country to mark their Third Anniversary Commemoration of builders’ day.
National President of the Association, Bldr. Prof. Yohana Izam, FNIOB was represented by the Imo State Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Building, Bldr. Dr. Andy Osuagwu, during their rally in Owerri.
He said the choice of 13th March every year by the association to commemorate builders’ day is significant not because of the collapse of the building at Ita Faaji, Lagos Island on the 13th March, 2019.
According to him, it was exceptionally for the loss of unquantifiable potentials of greatness the death of Twenty school children represented.
“Builders day 2022 will re- echo to great strides in the ochestration of integrity figures into our built environmental development processes through stakeholders engagements and the state and national levels.”
Earlier in his speech, the Imo State Chairman of the association, Bldr. Dr. Andy Osuagwu noted, that all States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will participate in the commemoration of the 13th March.
Speaking at the ocassion, The General Manager, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), Engr. Chukwu, commended the association for the positive impacts they have made in the building Industry.
He also showered encomiums on leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Builders for having lived up to its responsibilities and charged them to keep up the tempo.
Engr. Chukwu further vowed to partner with the group, urging them to fish out quacks from the profession whom he said, are bringing bad reputation to the association.
Chairman of the 2022 Planning Committee, Bldr. Innocent Onukaogu, expressed joy over the successful grandfinale of this year’s occasion, attributing it to teamwork among members.
