Sit-at-Home: Gunmen Open Fire On Traders In Enugu

Niger Delta Militants

There was unrest on Monday in Enugu, as gunmen suspected to be enforcing a sit-at-home order opened fire on traders at random.

It was gathered that the gunmen opened fire on people who were on their way to the early morning market around new market area of the state.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that a male passenger was shot and killed, while others were hurt during the attack.

The source said that one of the passengers was killed by gunmen who caused chaos in the region early Monday morning. “The assailants shot and killed some passengers who were out for morning business,” the source stated.

However, authorities responded quickly and stated that there were no casualties as a result of the incident.

ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu state command PPRO, who confirmed the incident, stated that there were no deaths recorded.

The Monday sit-at-home has continued to disrupt the economy in the south-east, as businesses, offices, schools, and markets, among other places, are always closed.
