BREAKING: Gunmen Kill 4 OSPAC Vigilante Operatives In Rivers
Gunmen have killed four members of Onelga Security Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) in Ibaa community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Following the development, indigenes of the community were seen leaving the community in droves Friday morning in fear of their lives.
A local confirmed to our correspondent that four members of a faction of OSPAC were killed in the attack carried out by gunmen suspected to be members of ‘disbanded’ rival of same OSPAC.
According to the source, who pleaded anonymity, the killing is reasonably suspected to be in connection with the ongoing battle for control of Illegal levy collection otherwise known as ‘matching ground’ by members alleged to be cultists.
According to reports, two persons said to be members of one of the factions of ‘disbanded’ OSPAC were killed in the Ibaa community in February this year.
However, the acting spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that only one person was killed then.
Police in the state are yet to speak on the killing in Ibaa community.
Ibaa community is notoriously known for bunkering activities and incessant chieftaincy and politically motivated killings
