JUST IN: Many Feared Killed As Herdsmen Attack Benue Farmers
Suspected herdsmen have reportedly killed many farmers in Kwande Local Government area.
It was gathered the attack took place on Thursday night in Waya, Jato-Aka, Turan.
A member of the community, Lawrence Akerigba, claimed as many as ten corpses of victims of the attack have been recovered so far.
Many more, according to him, are still missing.
He identified those killed as: Gbaeren Orsoo, Terdoo Tsega, Bemdoo Tsega, Abacha Tsega, Terkaa Tsega, Aôndoaseer Tyov, Iorhen Atim and Aôndowase Igba.
Their corpsea were said to have been deposited at the Jato-Aka mortuary.
Chairperson of Kwande Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Tartor Chianson, confirmed the incident to The Nation.
She confirmed recovery of eight bodies,which have been deposited at the mortuary.
She said it was difficult to determine the exact casualties yet as the area was under siege.
She however informed that men of Operation Whilestroke and Civil Defence were assisting in securing the community.
Benue Police spokesperson , SP Anene Catherine Sewuese, was yet to respond to calls or text messages on the incident.
