There are quite a number of Nigerian celebrities that have died in 2022.

Seven months into the year 2022, the entertainment industry has already been hit hard by the loss of several important figures.

Some of them died of illness, but others died for no known reason, throwing the industry into deep shock.

#1. Ada Ameh

Ada Ameh is dead

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ada Ameh, popularly known as Emuakpor Johnson in the sitcom, The Johnsons, died on Sunday, July 17, in Delta State at the age of 48.

The passing of Ada Ameh has left many Nigerians in a state of despair.

Shortly before her passing, she admitted that she was struggling with depression and detailed her struggles with her mental health.

Ada Ameh rose to prominence following the role of Anita in the Zeb Ejiro movie titled ‘Domitilla’ in 1996.

How did Ada Ameh lose her child?

She lost her 30-year-old daughter Aladi Godgift, who had died after an unsuccessful surgery in Abuja in October 2020.

#2. Sola Onayiga

Sola Onayiga is dead

Actress, Sola Onayiga, died on 18th of July.

The late veteran actress is well remembered for her portrayal of Ireti in the classic television series “Fuji House of Commotion,” in which she “oppressed” her family with her domineering culinary prowess.

Sola Onayiga was 63 years old.

#3. Gbenga Richards

Gbenga Richards

Veteran actor, Gbenga Richards, died on May 12 at the age of 60 after battling an unknown ailment.

It was reported that the once-vibrant actor who was a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s and early 2000s suffered from a number of illnesses, and because he had fallen on hard times, it was difficult for him to raise money for his treatment.

#4. David Osagie

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2022

Actor David Osagie died on 3 May, at the age of 52.

Osagie, known for playing the role of a king in movies, died in his hotel room after a movie shoot, in the South East region.

Actress Ngozi Ezeh, who confirmed the sad news, said the actor was not sick but slept and did not wake up the following day.

#5. Francisca Choji

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2022

On May 1, the body of Francisca Choji was discovered at the Rayfield Resort hotel in Jos, Plateau State.

Choji’s death was confirmed by Gabriel Ubah, the spokesperson for the Plateau state police, who stated that the rising starlet was discovered floating in the water at Rayfield Resort.

#6. Chinedu Bernard

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2022

Chinedu Bernard, a fast-rising actress, collapsed while cleaning the Chapel of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Enugu on the evening of Friday, April 29.

The parish priest, Reverend Fr. Uchendu Chukwuma, along with several other parishioners, rushed the actress to the East Side Hospital in Enugu, where she was confirmed dead.

#7. Dejo Tunfulu

Dejo Tunfulu, a prominent Yoruba actor, died on April 1 at the age of 50.

The actor was born in Idumota, Lagos Island area of Lagos State, but hailed from Ogun’s Ikija.

In 2014, the comic actor cheated death while he was on the “Igbo Sambisa” movie set when he suffered an internal injury that made him bleed through his nostrils. He was rushed to the hospital, where he received adequate treatment.

He shot into the limelight for his role in the “Omo Oran” movie, featuring the veteran actor Fatai Adetayo (Lalude).

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2022

Veronica Mngohol Takor, a rising star in Nollywood, passed away on March 23.

The body of the actress was discovered in a hotel room in Makurdi, Benue State.

Veronica’s mysterious death happened just one week after her birthday.

#9. Oluweri Magboojo

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2022

Actress Shade Akin Taylor Aberuagba popularly known as Oluweri Magboojo died on the 28th of February in the United Kingdom.

Shade was well known for her dramatic style of makeup, especially her curvy brows. She was the star of the movie Olúweri Màgbóòjò where she played the lead character.

#10. Lari Williams

Larri Williams

Lari Williams, a veteran actor, passed away on February 28.

The movie star died at the age of 81 after a long illness.

Williams, who was the first president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, died in his home in Ikom, Cross River State.

#11. Romanus Amuta

Veteran actor, Romanus Amuta, popularly known as Natty in the rested NTA comedy series New Masquerade died on February 9 at the age of 79 after a protracted sickness.

According to NAN, the deceased hailed from Ukana in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He worked with Daily Times Newspapers before venturing into the movie Industry.

Amuta also acted in some Nollywood movies including Lion Finger in 2003, Eagles Bride in 2005 and Ijele in 1999.

#12. Tafa Oloyede

Tafa Oloyede

Veteran actor, Adewuni Adewoye popularly known as Tafa Oloyede died on February 1 at the age of 69.

Oloyede who began acting in 1974 under the tutelage of Oyin Adejobi is best known for featuring in movies such as Jaiyesimi, Ayanmo, Ekuro Oloja, Orogun, Akanji Oniposi.
