Trump Is Still Ranting He Won Election With Less Than 24 Hours In Office
US President Donald Trump is still ranting that he won the election less than 48 hours before he leaves office, according to reporting from The New York Times.
He also called House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy a ‘p***y’ because McCarthy didn’t keep the Republican caucus together, The Times said.
Ten House Republicans voted with Democrats to impeach Trump for a second time last week.
The Times’ Maggie Haberman reported Monday that Trump had expressed dissatisfaction with McCarthy’s floor speech Wednesday, believing that the California Republican had bowed to pressure.
Trump didn’t seem to care that McCarthy actually came out against impeachment during his floor speech.
‘A vote to impeach would further divide this nation. A vote to impeach will further fan the flames of partisan division,’ McCarthy argued.
But he also placed blame on Trump for the January 6 siege on the Capitol Building.
‘That doesn’t mean the president is free from fault. The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding,’ McCarthy said.
‘These facts require immediate action by President Trump, accept his share of responsibility, quell the brewing unrest and ensure President elect Biden is able to successfully begin his term,’ McCarthy also advised.
When Trump was impeached the first time, in December 2019, he would often boast that no Republicans joined the effort – and several Democrats voted against it.
