Anxiety In Southeast, Nigeria Over Rising Killings, Detention Of Nnamdi Kanu By FG

Apprehension appears to have engulfed people of the Southeast States of Nigeria as the rate of killings in Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi and Anambra States continues to rise.
Although, the country is generally facing Insecurity challenges which which include, Kidnapping, Armed robbery, Assassination, Banditry, Boko- harram insurgents, Fulani headers attacks, among others.
Tension can be said to have risen in the Southeast States over the continuous killings of the innocent youths extrajudicially by the security Agents.
In a Press interview, a Civil Servant in the Imo State Ministry of Agriculture, who simply gave his name as Simon Unachukwu, called on Southeast Governors and stakeholders to quell the incessant killings and destruction of lives and property in the region.
Unachukwu further lamented the silence of the political leaders from the Southeast in the face of the danger and impunity being perpetrated under their watch.
“I want advise our people to take responsibility to ensure that peace is restored so that we can go about our normal businesses freely”.
A trader in the Owerri main Market who pleaded for anonymity, explained, that the present insecurity challenges are paralyzing his daily businesses and activities.
“We now leave in fear. No one can predict what happens in a twinkle of an eye. Our lives are not safe”, he said.
He therefore appealed to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, to release the detained IPOB leader; Nnamdi Kanu, whom he said had been in detention for a long time now, so as to ease the tension in the South East States.
A cleric, Bishop Thompson Nwosu of the Jesus Lives Ministry, sued for peaceful coexistence to reign among the Igbo; and however adviced they should shun disunity and come together as one.
