BREAKING: Journalists Stranded As Adamu Orders Their Eviction From APC Secretariat

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), evicted journalists covering the party’s activities on Tuesday, leaving them stranded.

The 75-year-old emerged as the national chairman of the party at the national convention held on March 26 through consensus.

The eviction of journalists from the party secretariat, which began as a rumor, was confirmed when the party began renovation work at the Media and Publicity office, which is adjacent to the press center on the ground floor of the Secretariat.

The journalists were compelled to seek refuge under the tree where they filed their reports as a result of the situation.

The ejection of the journalists from the press centre may be linked to Adamu’s inability to walk up the stairs to his office on the third floor.

Climbing up the stairs has taken Adamu roughly 20 minutes or more every time he visits the secretariat.

His inability to endure the rigors of stair climbing can be linked to his age.

According to reports, Adamu will convert the party’s media department and press center into his office, pending the installation of a lift at the party secretariat.

A staff of the party that informed journalists about the development said the party was “remodelling”, noting that that was the reason the staff of the media department and the journalists were evicted.

“We are remodeling the secretariat, my office is also affected. As I am talking to you, I have no office now,” he said.

At the moment, the media and publicity department will now be making use of the National Executive Committee (NEC) office, while the remodeling or renovation lasts.

They have not provided any alternative for journalists covering the governing party.
