The Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives are about now holding a joint closed session.

The session is billed to take place at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

Speaker Yakubu Dogara, announced the meeting for 12 noon, on Tuesday.

He, however, did not state why the lawmakers want to hold the joint session.

The Senate had earlier moved into a closed session which started 11:00a.m.

This is the first time since the 8th National Assembly was inaugurated in June 2015 that both chambers would hold a joint closed-door session.

They are expected to release a communiqué at the end of the session.

The fate of the nation and other recent developments in the polity are expected to be discussed.
