Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Saturday expressed appreciation to God for sparing the life of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who was involved in a helicopter crash.

Osinbajo cheated death when the chopper conveying him to a campaign rally in Kogi State, crash-landed in Kabba.

Reacting further to the incident on his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode noted that Kabba, where the chopper crash-landed, is the hometown of political activist Deji Adeyanju who has been detained in Kano prison since last year after police reopened an alleged murder case in which he was discharged and acquitted for since 2009.

Many Nigerians including Fani-Kayode, however, believe that Adeyanju is simply being persecuted for his frequent criticisms of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, especially Osinbajo.

Fani-Kayode also noted that the circumstances surrounding the chopper’s crash were similar to the one that killed former National Security Adviser Andrew Azazi and former Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa.

He tweeted: “Interesting to note that the helicopter crash that almost took the life of @ProfOsinbajo occured in Kabba, @adeyanjudeji‘s hometown. Also intetesting to note what happened as the pilot tried to land.Reminds me of the suspicious “crash” that killed Azazi and Yakowa. I smell a rat.”
