2019 Elections: You Don’t Have Monopoly On Violence, Nigerians Tell el-Rufai

El-Rufai

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai’s threat that foreign nations, whom he suspects of trying to interfere in the affairs of Nigeria, would leave in body bags has been generating reactions from Nigerians.

Speaking on Tuesday Live, on a late-night programme on the NTA, El-Rufai warned the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Union, who have reacted to the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to stop interfering in the affairs of Nigeria, else, they would leave in “body bags”.

He said, “They (the comments) were based on non-information and they are most irresponsible and I am happy that the Presidency responded to them.

“Those that are calling for everyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene. They will go back in body bags. Because nobody will come to Nigeria and tell us how to run our country. We’ve got that independence and we are trying to run our country as decently as possible and we know the history of those countries that are trying to teach us these things; we have read their history. We also know that in their stages of development they went through these challenges.”

Since he made this comment, reactions have been pouring in on Twitter.

@AishaYesufu:
Dear Governor Nasir El Rufai @elrufai
Just so you know, nobody has monopoly of violence! You keep waving violence at us as if you alone own it. YOU DON’T!
Body bags we already are used to in APC government!
Zamfara bled yesterday. They have been bleeding. We all have bled!!!!”

@elnathan_john:
“Y’all deserve El Rufai. I hope he wins elections. He publicly swore to deal with Audu for a tweet, young Nigerians applauded. He buried Shiites, harassed columnists, Nigerian writer-hustlers wrote articles in his defense, oh savior of northern literature. Enjoy your body bags!”

@omoyapayaski001:
“Dear foreign bodies, pls when they finally make true their threat. Kindly come down to Nigeria and pick up all this useless politicians. I mean all of them, we don’t need them again. Lets refresh Nigeria again.. “El Rufai”

@Swaggzeez1:
“This El Rufai man seems to be a lover of violence.”

@Salttybarber:
“El Rufai has always been like this, it’s just that he is at the other side of the politics now that people are noticing it.. He delt with Audu and everyone kept quite over a tweet..”

@dani_slimz:
“El Rufai keep your murdering intentions to yourself ohhh… Don’t start what you can’t finish”

:
“Otedola with the money, Adenuga with the network, Dangote with the net-worth, El-Rufai with the threats.”

@farooqkperogi:
“This El-Rufai man is a violent, murderous thug. He is always threatening murder & violence against political opponents. Thank goodness he became a governor, which has afforded us the opportunity to know him. Imagine this man with his homicidal tendencies as Nigeria’s president!”

@rickieflamez:
“El rufai is just another unfortunate violent monster masquerading himself as a political leader. There’s every Boko Haram tendencies in him, thank he became governor, we have seen him all.”

@online_medic:
“Noticed how El-Rufai is no longer campaigning?
His plans are simple..ensure buhari wins presidential election(put foreign observers in body bags if necessary)
Then through pressing of buttons like buhari admitted in osun rig myself in as governor kaduna@dadiyata @john_danfulani”

@chosensomto:
“El Rufai ‘s body bag threat is a reminder of the kind of divisive leaders in APC; this people have been making inciting statements even before they came to power; now they’re in power and even more dangerous.
With Atiku campaign you can feel the peace. #AtikuMeansUnity”

@renoomokri:
“I urge @Elrufai, who today threatened foreign friends of Nigeria of going back in body bags if they intervene in Nigeria, to rather urge the @MBuhari administration to stop releasing ‘repentant’ Boko Haram members and use the body bags he referred to on them instead #RenosDarts”

@DanielleEnonche:
“He whom the gods must kill they first make mad. Let El-Rufai continue!”
