Nigeria’s Unity Is Not Negotiable – Orji Kalu
Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu has maintained that nobody can negotiate the unity of Nigeria.
Addressing a group of journalists in Aba area of the state, the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, insisted the call to restructure the country is not to tear the country’s unity apart.
The former governor explained that restructuring will not lead to division as some people have posited but a stronger nation.
According to Kalu, “When we talk about restructuring, we don’t mean dividing the country, we are thinking of restructuring some social, political and local indices of the structure called Nigeria.
“This is because the 36 states are fairly looking as if they are not viable. And if they are not viable, what do you do?
“Is for you to either go back to regions or leave the six regions and go for eight to 10 regions and make them points of administration of the nation.
“So, I believe that when we say restructure, people who think we are questioning the unity of the country are not getting it. This country’s unity is not negotiable by any part; nobody can negotiate the unity of this country.”
This is coming at a time when the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has renewed agitation for the secession of Nigeria, over what he termed marginalization of the South East region.
Recall that the former governor also floored the IPOB leader for asking people of the South East to boycott elections in Igbo.

One major thing that pissed me off each time I listen to a sell out like orji uzor kalu is that they never concede to the globally accepted way of resolving a political question such as Biafra agitation.One had expected Kalu and his likes to accept and pit themselves against Nnamdi KANU in a referendum just to prove to the world that they are more popular than Nnamdi KANU.For goodness sake this is Democratic regime,let the people decide and put every thing to rest as it obtains in other climes,simple!
