Apple Discontinues Sale Of Four iPhone Models In India
It’s being reported in India that Apple has taken four of its ‘lower priced’ iPhones off the shelves in India which include the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus.
The new entry point iPhone in India will be the iPhone 6s that currently sells for 29,500 Rupees (US$429) – once lower end iPhone models are sold out. The iPhones are already sold out on Amazon India.
The report further noted that Apple reduced the number of distributors in India from five to two in order to rein in arbitrary discounts to reinforce the brand’s premium.
One leading trade partner of Apple claims that Apple doesn’t want Apple India to chase volume by discounting at the cost of profit. The models that are being phased out will increase the average selling price of iPhones in India and boost both profit and revenue.
Lastly, the report notes that Apple will for the first time, localize its upcoming iOS 13 for Indian consumers, so that maps, Siri and other apps will support 22 Indian Languages. Today Siri only understands Indian English.
