Wadume: Police Inspector Investigating Suspected Kidnapper Dies In Car Crash
A Police inspector serving with the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the force has been confirmed dead in a car accident which occurred in Ibi Taraba State.
Four other police officers and five arrested suspects were also reported injured in the accident which occurred at about 6pm, on Monday September 2.
ORIENTAL TIMES understands the accident which happened on Wukari road, occurred when the police officers were transporting some arrested suspects to the police area command in Wukari.
The incident was said to have occurred few kilometers from where three policemen were shot dead by soldiers who allegedly freed Taraba kidnap kingpin Hamisu Bala Wadume.
Further information gathered on the incident revealed the police officers who were involved in the accident were attached to DCP Abba Kyari’s team and were left behind to conduct further investigation on the alleged murder of three policemen and a civilian by soldiers in Ibbi, Taraba State.
It was gathered that the eight-man team of operatives rode in a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number (Abuja) BP222RSH, and were led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Bawa.
They had arrested the suspects and were on their way to Wukari when they were involved in the lone accident. Those injured have been evacuated to a general hospital in the area for treatment.
When contacted, Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, confirmed the accident but said he had not got the details on it.
