2 Policemen On Highway Patrol Crushed To Death By Reckless Driver

Nigeria police

A reckless driver on Tuesday crushed two police officers attached to highway patrol to death along Osogbo-Ilesa road, Osun State.

According to reports, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps had stopped the driver identified as Oluwamuyiwa Emmanuel who was driving a Toyota Camry car, for alleged traffic offence few metres to the police checkpoint mounted by the highway patrol team before the tragedy struck.

A Correspondent to Tribuline online quoting a reliable source said “Emmanuel apparently thought that the FRSC team was chasing him for the alleged traffic offence and he drove at a high speed, thus crushing two policemen to death.”

Confirming the incident, Osun State Police Commissioner, Mr Fimihan Adeoye said “two of our men were crushed to death by a reckless driver along Osogbo-Ilesa road on Tuesday.”

He stated, “It is true. I think it was a traffic matter case. The driver, who is a 23 year old boy has been arrested.”

Reacting over the incident, Ilesa unit commander of the FRSC, Mr Samuel Oyedeji observed that “the driver was very reckless and bad driving attitude precipitated the untimely death of the two policemen”.

Its a pity RIP, but police should learn to stay by the road side not their usual was of blocking a moving car or lorry you don’t know if it has an active brake, its really a pity.

I wonder what the Nigeria police force are doing in the middle of a highway. High way patrol doesn’t mean you should stand in the middle of the road. Zoo thinking
