BREAKING: Court Permits FG To Seize Saraki’s Houses In Lagos

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been ordered by a Lagos Federal High Court to temporarily forfeit two of his houses located in Ikoyi, Lagos state, to the federal government.
This followed an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking an order of interim forfeiture of the properties located at 17A McDonald Road, Ikoyi, Eti Osa local government area of Lagos.
EFCC’s counsel, Nnaemeka Omewa, had prayed the court to grant the application because Saraki allegedly acquired the properties with “proceeds of unlawful activities”.
The anti-graft agency also sought for “An order of this honourable Court forfeiting to the Federal Government of Nigeria landed property with appurtenances situate, lying and known as No. 17A McDonald Road, Ikoyi, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State found and recovered from the respondent which property is reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful activity”.
