Failure To Restructure, Nigeria May Disintegrate — Gen. Ogomudia
A former chief of defense staff, General Alexander Ogomudia has said that Nigeria desperately needs restructuring in all aspects of its national life.
Ogomudia said that he has fears of impending disintegration and nationwide violence going the way the agitations for restructuring are been subdued, Guardian reports.
Using the murder of late Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, as an example, the former defence chief said that a lot is definitely not right in the country.
He said: “…a country where a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, was killed in the streets like an urchin, and nothing happened, is a sign that the nation is not moving in the right direction.”
Ogomudia advised those who are kicking against restructuring to learn from the bitter experiences of countries like Yugoslavia and Sudan.
The ex-CDS also opposed the death penalty proposed by the recent hate speech bill debated upon in the Senate.
The special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, on Tuesday, October 1, explained how the government plans to go about restructuring the country.
