Church Refuses To Officiate Burial Of Man Who Stopped Paying Tithe 3 Years Ago
A church has refused to officiate the burial of a man who died recently because he stopped paying tithe 3 years ago.
Twitter user, Kelvin Odanz revealed that a man who is his father’s colleague recently died but his church refused to officiate his burial claiming that the deceased stopped attending the church and paying tithe 3 years ago.
Odanz shared on the micro-blogging site;
A colleague’s father died and their church (name withheld) is refusing to officiate the burial.They claim he stopped attending the church and paying tithe 3 years ago.
And if the church must bury him, the family has to pay all the tithe he didn’t pay in the last 3 years. 🤦🤦
I am utterly enraged and disgusted at the hypocrisy and greed that underlies religious practices in this country. At the end of the day, it is all about money even for the most pious of men of God. Fucking greedy exploitative idiots, cashing out on the rot in this country.
When the pastor needs help, wants to build a church or buy a car, the entire church contributes for such projects. But when you get sick and are at the verge of dying, the church merely offers you project. And when you die, they look for ways to profit from your death. Idiots

For none payment for tithe, the Church is wrong not to perform his burial. But for not attending the Church for three years the Church is right to disown his corpse except for the following two reasons: (1) He was physically indisposed to come to the the Church. (2) Although he stopped coming other members of his family like his wife and children were still attending. Other than these two reasons the Church is right to distance herself from the deceased. After all what is Church about a Church that has been closed for three years. It is people that keep a Church going. The Church was none existent to him for three years. It couldn’t have suddenly come into existence at his death.

Don’t let us be sentimental here. If the Church made none payment of tithe as a condition for not wanting to bury the deceased then they are wrong. But that a man has stopped attending Church for three years is enough for the Church to disown his corpse. The only two conditions where that will be inappropriate are: (1) He is physically incapacitated and can not come to the Church by reason of sickness or disability. (2) Although he may have stopped coming to the Church but members of his family are still members of the Church. On these two conditions the Church will be wrong if they refuse to identify with the deceased. But in the absence of those two the Church is not obliged to bury an man who had stopped coming to Church for three years.
