Unidentified Corpse Found On Onitsha-Owerri Expressway In Anambra

The Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, David Bille, Tuesday, ordered investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentifed corpse along Onitsha-Owerri expressway in the state.

The state command’s public relations officer, Edwin Okadigbo, told newsmen in Awka that investigations had commenced into the matter.

According to him, “At about 09:45am today, there was a report at the NSCDC, Ekwusigo Divisional office, that a male dead body was found lying along Owerri-Onitsha expressway by Eze river, in front of Pentecost University, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

“Following the report, the divisional officer, CSC Deborah Anigbogu, rushed to the scene, and discovered a male dead body lying along Owerri-Onitsha express road by Eze river in front of Pentecost University, Ozubulu. Photographs were taken and the area cordoned off.”

Okadigbo said preliminary investigations revealed that the young man may have been killed by an unknown person or persons, and the lifeless body dumped last night.

He added that the divisional officer contacted the president general of Ozubulu, and also alerted the Environmental Health Department of the Ekwusigo Local Government to evacuate the corpse in order to avert health hazards to public.
