Obasanjo Bags Highest Academic Degree, PhD In Christian Theology (PHOTOS)
A former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday became one of the pioneer students of the National Open University to bag a PhD in Christian Theology.
Recall that the former President was admitted to MA/PhD in September 2014.
A six-man external panel pronounced him worthy of the award.
The panel expressed satisfaction with the about 250-page thesis of the former President, spanning about an hour and 30 minutes of defence.
It was reportedly held inside the auditorium of the Abeokuta Study Centre of the institution along IBB Boulevard, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The panelists were Dr. Mande Samaila (Dean, Postgraduate School, NOUN) as Chairman, Prof. Cletus Gotan (External Supervisor), Prof. Deji
Ayegboyin (Major Supervisor), and Dr. Mustapha Raheem Adejoro, (Head of Department, Religious Studies (NOUN).
Others were Prof. Nebath Tanglang (Representative, School of Postgraduate Studies, NOUN) and Prof. Godwin Akper (Internal Supervisor and Dean, Faculty of Arts, NOUN).

Degree ,PhD in Christian religion is not degree in Christianity.don’t be deceived. Degree in the study of christ doesn’t change a Man .its the spirit of Christ in a man that can transformed and change a man,so don’t be deceive by title.

Congratulations to OBJ. Another former head of state, Gowon, also went to the university after his retirement. This should not be the norm. Things would have been different, for instance, if Buhari had completed his school cert before serving Nigeria. “97% plus 5% not equal to 100%” For the benefit of those served, studies should come before professional life and not thereafter. Congrats again to OBJ, At his age this should be commended. This a man that pioneered Universal Primary Education (UPE schools) as a military ruler, then Universal Basic Education (UBE) as civilian president 20+ years late, He then launched the Open University He enrolled himself and now has achieved a PHd. Kudos. I’m all for giving credit where it’s due. Credit to OBJ. He has promoted education for all in this country. This is a positive legacy he has left for all Nigerians. This will teach the younger generations that age is not a barrier to education. This should be an inspiration to some North Northern Northerners and their Presidents, both former and incumbent.
