Anthony Scaramucci has been removed as communications director for the White House. Scaramucci was ousted from the post just 10 days after the wealthy New York financier joined the West Wing. According to the New York Times, his removal came at the request of the new White House chief of staff, former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly. "Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving the role as White House Communications Director," said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee in a statement. "Mr Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best." Addressing reporters soon after the statement, Huckabee said Scaramucci would not have role in the Trump administration. When asked if he tendered his resignation or was asked to leave, Huckabee said: "I am not going to get into the process...as we said several times before what matters to us is not who is employed in the White House but who is employed in the rest of the country." She was also asked if it was a chain of command issue, in reference to Scaramucci's boast that he only reported directly to Trump, or whether his exit was due to his comments in an expletive filled interview with the New Yorker, in which he attacked former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist Steve Bannon. Huckabee said: "The president certainly felt that Anthony's comments were inappropriate for someone in that position and he didn't want to burden General Kelly also with that line of succession as I think we have made clear. General Kelly has the full authority to operate within the White House and all staff will report to him." Scaramucci's exit comes on the heels of Preibus was unceremoniously replaced via a Twitter announcement on Friday (28 July). Three people privy to the decision said Kelly had called a meeting on Monday (31 July) and made it clear to staff that he was in charge. Following the staff shakeup of the last week, Trump tried to insist there was "no chaos" in the White House. In an early morning tweet on Monday, the president tweeted: "Highest Stock Market EVER, best economic numbers in years, unemployment lowest in 17 years, wages rising, border secure, S.C.: No WH chaos!" Trump brought in Kelly hoping he would bring in order to an administration that has been plagued by federal investigations, stalled legislative efforts and infighting among West Wing staff, according to The Associated Press.
