2019: I Have No Plan To Contest – Osinbajo
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo said on Monday that he had no plan to contest in the 2019 presidential poll.
Osinbajo disclosed this at the Financial Times Africa Summit in London when asked if he had considered contesting in the 2019 election.
The vice-president reportedly replied saying, “None of that is on the cards.”
Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, had earlier asked Nigerians to disregard a group, Osinbajo Volunteers, campaigning for his election as president in 2019, saying Osinbajo had nothing to do with them.
The group said Nigeria now “has a leader who has a clue about what to do and (how to) turn Nigeria to a beloved land of our dreams.”
“Note that Osinbajo did not endorse this volunteer group. We have never met him. We are strong believers in the fact that he is the right ruler for Nigeria and we must create a people’s volunteer base for him,” the group added.
The activities of Osinbajo was highlighted on its website, while urging members of the public to volunteer for Osinbajo.
