I Can Run Nigeria Better Than Buhari Even While Asleep – Sowore
Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, has boasted that he could run Nigeria more efficiently than President Muhammadu Buhari, even while asleep, if given the chance to rule the country.
He also dismissed the allegations in some quarters that he was being sponsored by some personalities in the country to vie for presidency of Nigeria, saying that he had the wherewithal and exposure to govern the country.
Speaking with aviation correspondents yesterday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on his arrival from New York, Sowore, who was received by a huge crowd numbering over 500, insisted that he could run the country more effectively from his sleep than Buhari.
He insisted that he would not back down on his ambition to take a shot at the presidency, saying his government would permanently put an end to cabals, godfatherism and several untoward attitudes of some people in the country.
The crowd, who stormed the Lagos airport in several vehicles, disrupted traffic flow for over 30 minutes, and the several security operatives attached to the airport could not contain them as they sang and danced.
When he stepped out of the terminal, the shout of “Mr. President” rent the air, while many of the followers who were mainly students of higher institutions of learning in the state insisted that they would protect their votes and support Sowore to fulfil his ambition.
Sowore said in an interview that he arrived Nigeria to formally declare his presidential ambition, adding that series of town hall meetings and political rallies would commence immediately.
He lamented that the country was being run aground by politicians despite all the amenities and opportunities in the country, but boasted that if given the chance, he would make a change almost immediately.
He said: “I am coming from New York and I have just arrived Nigeria to lead a movement to change power in the country. Some of the movement members are probably the people you saw outside. I am here to undertake a series of rallies, town hall meetings and others across Nigeria.
“It is over for the old people; it is over for the cabals; it is over for the mafias that have been running Nigeria down. That is what I am here to do and this is going to go on till 2019, and there is no going back.
“I have been doing activism for over 30 years. I have never done anything less than a national politics. So, there is no less position. The position that is most important to Nigerians today is the position of the president. I am more than qualified. I have told you many times, I can run Nigeria better than President Muhammadu Buhari, even in my sleep.
“There is no need going to become a local government chairman, councillor or a senator when I can run the country as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. What else do you want me to tell you?” he queried.
