Man United Reportedly Want Victor Osimhen To Replace Cristiano Ronaldo
According to a fresh report, Manchester United’s top target to replace Cristiano Ronaldo is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United have approached Nigerian striker Osimhen, according to Football Italia, but Napoli are demanding at least €100 million for the Super Eagles front, who has 11 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
After Edinson Cavani’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, the Red Devils are rumoured to be considering a move for a new first-choice striker.
As things stand, Cavani will be a free agent in the summer and is unlikely to sign a new contract before the end of the season.
There are also unanswered issues over Cristiano Ronaldo’s near future, as he is rumored to be considering leaving United if they fail to finish in the Premier League’s top four at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old was frustrated following United’s 0-0 draw with Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday, and is said to have worries about manager Ralf Rangnick’s ability to earn Champions League participation for next season.
England captain Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland are among the high-profile names linked with a move to Manchester United.
Osimhen was nominated to Nigeria’s roster for the Africa Cup of Nations this year after scoring five goals in six games to help the Super Eagles qualify for the tournament.
After suffering a cheekbone injury prior to his team’s opening match, he did not play a single minute at the event.
Osimhen, had in the past spoken of his admiration for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner before his move to Juventus back in 2018.
“Playing against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo is something one can eagerly await, so I’m looking forward to facing him soon,” he told CAF Online.
