Court Jails Fuel Attendant In Abuja
On Thursday, a Dei-dei Grade I Area Court in Abuja sentenced Ngbede Musa, a 32-year-old gasoline attendant, to seven months in prison for misappropriating N435,390.
The defendant, who resides in Mararaba in Nasarawa State, pleaded guilty to criminal breach of trust and misappropriation and asked the court for forgiveness.
“Indeed I accept that I committed the offence. I want to tell the court that I paid part of the remaining N200,000,” he said.
The Judge, Mr Sulyman Ola, said, ”Having found the convict guilty of the offence, in line with his plea for mercy and a first time offender, who did not waste the time of the court, he is hereby sentenced to seven months imprisonment with an option to pay N30,000 fine.”
The judge also admonished the offender not to conduct any further crimes.
Ola also directed the convict to pay N200,000 to the complainant, Daniel Adams of AYM filling station in Dawaki Abuja, as sought by the prosecutor.
Earlier, Mr Chinedu Ogada, the Prosecution Counsel, told the court that Daniel Adams of AYM filling station in Dawaki, Abuja, reported the case to the Dawaki Police Station on February 8, around 2:30 p.m.
Musa, who was in charge of selling engine oil at the petrol station, allegedly sold products worth N435,390 fraudulently and diverted the money for his personal use, according to Ogada.
He stated the offense was in violation of the Penal Code Law’s sections 312 and 309.
