Release Nnamdi Kanu, It’s My 60th Birthday Appeal – Kanayo Begs Buhari [VIDEO]

Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo has on his 60th birthday appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Oriental Times reports that Kanu has been in the custody of the Depart of State Services, DSS, since his arrest in Kenya in June 2021.

Recall that the Nigerian government had also dragged him to court over charges bordering on terrorism.

On Wednesday, March 02, 2022, the lawyer expressed alarm about Kanu’s group’s weekly sit-at-home order in the Southeast, claiming that economic and commercial activity in the affected Igbo states have been hampered.

In his appeal, Kanayo said; “My dear president and father of the nation, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I hope this message meets you well sir? My name is Kanayo O. Kanayo, I’m an actor and a lawyer, and I hold a national honor as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, MFR.

Sir, on this occasion of my 60th birthday, I want to make an appeal to you as a son and a patriotic citizen whose industry contributes meaningfully to the Nation’s GDP.

This is not one of those appeals orchestrated by people to lend their voices. I’m deeply pained by the loss of lives, wanton killings, and general insecurity in the land.

The southeast geographical zone is under siege. Someone may tell you that it’s what they brought unto themselves. The sit-at-home is very effective, even government vehicles are off the road. The economic activities are paralyzed. The negative impact of this may be seen as only affecting the region but it has a rippling effect on the entire nation’s economy.“

“You’re the father of the nation with numerous sons and daughters including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Sir, the buck stops at your table, I know and appreciate that Nnamdi Kanu’s case is before the court and you usually do not like to interfere with court cases but at this stage of heightened tension, is no longer enough to say that the matter is in court.

You are a president with executive powers. My appeal sir, biko (Please) release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, it is my 60th birthday appeal. Thank you sir.”
